Bis Ans Ende Der Welt / Nie Wieder Werde Ich Weinen Um Dich

Released in 1980 by the East German state-owned label AMIGA, this single features the Puhdys, one of the most prominent and enduring rock bands in the German Democratic Republic. By the time of this release, the band had already established themselves as pioneers of East German rock, successfully navigating the complex cultural policies of the GDR to produce music that balanced state-sanctioned aesthetics with Western-influenced rock sensibilities. The record serves as a representative example of the label's output during a period when domestic rock music was an essential component of cultural identity in East Germany.

The tracks on this single, Bis Ans Ende Der Welt and Nie Wieder Werde Ich Weinen Um Dich, reflect the band's characteristic approach to songwriting, which often blended melodic rock structures with lyrics that resonated with a broad audience. As an AMIGA pressing, the design and packaging were consistent with the standard industrial aesthetic of the era's state-run music production. While the Puhdys faced strict oversight, they managed to maintain a long-standing career and widespread popularity, eventually becoming one of the few Eastern Bloc bands to tour internationally during the 1970s and 80s.
