Black Metamorphosis

Black Metamorphosis was released in 2019 by Sierra Leonean electronic producer and artist Lamin Fofana through the Sci-Fi & Fantasy label. The album serves as an auditory exploration of the themes addressed in Sylvia Wynter’s seminal essay of the same name, which examines the historical and cultural construction of Black identity. Fofana’s compositions draw heavily on the intersection of migration, movement, and the global Black experience, utilizing sound as a conduit to interpret complex sociological theories.
