Where it came from
Released in 1976 on the Kaya-Lami label, Darango / Cisco Kid by the group Cowboys (4) emerged from the vibrant music scene of the 1970s. The single reflects the era's experimentation with genre fusion, blending rhythmic sensibilities with the thematic storytelling common in regional recordings of that decade.
The production sought to capture an infectious, dance-oriented energy, utilizing the polished arrangements typical of mid-70s studio sessions. While the release did not achieve widespread commercial dominance, it remains a notable artifact of the Kaya-Lami catalog, valued by selectors and enthusiasts of obscure funk and soul for its distinct sonic character.
