Where it came from
Released under the Des Alpes label, this record features a collection of classic fairytales by the Brothers Grimm, including Puss in Boots, the Bremen Town Musicians, the Wolf and the Seven Young Goats, and Sleeping Beauty. Produced during the mid-20th century, these recordings were part of a popular trend in European media to bring oral traditions into the domestic sphere through the burgeoning medium of vinyl records, catering to both educational and entertainment needs of families.
The design of such children’s records from the Des Alpes catalog often emphasized high-fidelity audio narration accompanied by atmospheric soundscapes to enhance the storytelling experience. These releases were generally well-received for their accessibility and served as a standard fixture in German-speaking households, reflecting the period's commitment to preserving cultural heritage through audio recordings intended for younger audiences.
