Where it came from
Released by Philips as part of their series of dramatized fairy tales, this record captures the enduring appeal of the Brothers Grimm’s folklore. During the mid-20th century, the German-speaking market saw a surge in audio adaptations designed to entertain children and preserve traditional literature, with Philips positioning these records as premium storytelling companions for the home.
The production relied on the classic literary source material, favoring faithful narrations supported by atmospheric sound design. These records were typically presented in distinctive, illustrated sleeves that leaned into a whimsical aesthetic common to the era's children’s media. While individual designers for specific catalog numbers like 423 902 QE are rarely credited in industry archives, the series as a whole was widely received as a standard entry in the European market for spoken-word audio, valued for its clarity and traditional presentation.
