El Chapulín Colorado Y Sus Canciones ¡No Contaban Con Mi Astucia!

Released in 1979 by Philips, this album serves as a musical companion to the beloved television character El Chapulín Colorado, created and performed by Roberto Gómez Bolaños, known as Chespirito. During the late 1970s, the character had achieved massive popularity across Latin America as a satirical superhero. This record was produced to capitalize on the character's television success, featuring songs that reflected the whimsical, slapstick tone of the show and reinforced the iconic catchphrases that had become part of the cultural lexicon.

The album features compositions and performances centered on the persona of the red-clad hero who famously championed the phrase 'No contaban con mi astucia!' The production design reflects the aesthetic of 1970s television tie-in merchandise, prioritizing bright, recognizable branding to appeal to the family audience that tuned in weekly. It was received as a lighthearted novelty record, capturing a specific moment in the mid-career output of Bolaños, who dominated Mexican television during this period.
