Where it came from
Released in 1964 by the Zafiro label, this single features the influential flamenco singer Niña de la Puebla. Born Dolores Jiménez Alcántara, she was a pioneering figure in the cante flamenco tradition, particularly known for her distinctive voice and her ability to bring regional Andalusian folk music to a broader, national audience during the mid-twentieth century.
The record captures the stylistic essence of the period, presenting traditional coplas that were instrumental in defining the Spanish soundscape of the 1960s. Zafiro was a key label for Spanish artists during this era, focusing on the preservation and commercial distribution of flamenco and folk music. The release was well-received among enthusiasts of the genre, serving as a testament to her enduring popularity and technical mastery of the cante.
