Where it came from
Released in the early 1960s on the Fontana label, this children's record reflects the mid-century Dutch tradition of lighthearted, sing-along music. It features Teddy and Henk Scholten, a father-daughter duo who became iconic figures in the Netherlands during this era for their wholesome television appearances and musical recordings, alongside the vocal group De Schellebellen and singer Paula van Alphen.
The album was produced during a time when children's entertainment in the Netherlands leaned heavily toward rhythmic, upbeat songs designed for family listening and school activities. The design and musical arrangement prioritized accessibility and cheerfulness, serving as a staple for Dutch households and youth radio programs of the period, securing its place as a nostalgic touchstone in the country's mid-century popular music landscape.
