Where it came from
Released in 2020 by the label Zoundr, this record serves as a festive musical narrative centered on the character Engelchen Mara and her companion, Samu. The project was conceived as a contemporary addition to German-language holiday storytelling, blending gentle acoustic arrangements with voice acting designed to appeal to younger audiences during the Advent season.
The production reflects a modern approach to seasonal audio media, moving away from traditional orchestral suites toward a character-driven episodic format. Mara Engelhardt, who both inspired and performed the project, aimed to create a comforting atmosphere that highlights themes of friendship and altruism. Upon its release, the record found its place within niche streaming and boutique physical markets that cater to families seeking alternative, less commercialized Christmas content.
