Where it came from
Released by Polydor in 1973, this single, catalog number 2041 503, emerged during the height of the popularity surrounding the television adaptations of Johanna Spyri's Heidi novels. The production was part of a wave of German-language novelty and children's music intended to capitalize on the iconic imagery and themes of the Swiss alpine stories, which served as a cultural touchstone for European television audiences at the time.
The record features the work of artist Michael Homberg, who contributed to the mid-seventies pop and schlager landscape. His approach to this track focused on the buoyant, cheerful tone associated with the character of Heidi, utilizing the lighthearted orchestral arrangements typical of the era's light entertainment music. Upon release, it functioned primarily as a promotional tie-in, received by the public as a nostalgic and catchy souvenir of the televised series' enduring legacy.
