Where it came from
Released in the mid-1960s by the Uruguayan band Los Iracundos, this single exemplifies the group's transition into the 'Nueva Ola' movement that swept through Latin America during that era. Formed in Paysandú, the band became a cornerstone of the beat music scene, frequently adapting international hits and popular Italian melodies for the Spanish-speaking market as part of their collaborative relationship with RCA Victor.
The A-side, 'Es La Lluvia Que Cae', is a Spanish adaptation of the Italian hit 'E la pioggia che va' by The Rokes, which itself was based on 'Remember the Rain' by Bob Lind. The track showcases the band's signature blend of rhythmic pop-rock and sentimental lyricism. Designed to capitalize on the transnational appeal of beat music, the recording was highly successful in regional charts and solidified Los Iracundos' reputation as leading interpreters of the contemporary pop sound of the decade.
