F-Cubed (Future:Fat:Funk) EP 1

Released in 2002 on the UK-based imprint Beautiful Records, F-Cubed (Future:Fat:Funk) EP 1 emerged during a pivotal moment for the electronic dance music scene. As the genre transitioned from the peak of late-nineties big beat and progressive house into the more aggressive, bass-heavy sounds of the early 2000s, this compilation sought to capture a cross-section of emerging club styles. The EP served as a platform for producers like Tom Neville and the Organ Donors to experiment with the fusion of high-tempo energy and synthesized funk, reflecting the eclectic and often experimental atmosphere of London's underground dance culture at the time.

The production behind the EP emphasizes a technical focus on sound design intended for large sound systems, characteristic of the Beautiful Records house style. By bringing together artists like Rogue Element and Hawk Dawson, the label aimed to curate a record that functioned both as a DJ tool and a definitive statement of contemporary funk-infused electronics. While the project received limited mainstream attention, it is well-regarded among collectors of early 2000s UK dance music for its preservation of a specific, transitional period in club music history.
