Where it came from
Released in 1986 under the Odeon label, this seven-inch single represents a quintessential artifact of Cologne's vibrant local music scene. It was produced as a tribute to the 1. FC Köln football club, reflecting the deep cultural fusion between the city's popular Kölsch rock bands and its beloved sports team. The song serves as a rallying cry, capturing the passionate identity of fans who view their team not merely as a club, but as a central pillar of the city's communal life.
The track was written and performed by Höhner, a legendary band renowned for their commitment to the Cologne dialect and regional themes. In crafting the record, the band aimed to encapsulate the emotional fervor found in the terraces of the Müngersdorfer Stadion. Upon its release, it became an instant staple in the local repertoire, cementing the band's status as the unofficial musical voice of the club and securing its place as an enduring anthem played during home matches and civic celebrations.
