Falade Bakare

Falade Bakare was released in 1976 on the Essiebons label, a vital imprint founded by the renowned Ghanaian producer Dick Essilfie-Bondzie. This recording captures the work of the Lamidi Adisa Akpala Band, a group deeply embedded in the highlife and apala music traditions of West Africa. The album emerged during a period of vibrant musical evolution in Nigeria and Ghana, where local artists were blending traditional percussion and rhythmic structures with modern studio production techniques to define the contemporary sound of the era.

The design and production of the record reflect the collaborative spirit of the Essiebons studio, which acted as a hub for both established stars and emerging talent. Like many releases from this catalog, the artwork and sound were intended to provide a polished, high-fidelity experience for the burgeoning urban markets of West Africa. While records of this specific catalog number are now highly prized by collectors of vintage African vinyl, they were originally crafted as accessible cultural documents that bridged local performance styles with the reach of the growing pan-African music industry.
