Where it came from
Released by Disneyland Records in 1967 as part of their German-language spoken-word series, Geschichte Von Dornröschen (The Story of Sleeping Beauty) adapts the classic fairy tale for young listeners. The record was produced during a period when the studio sought to expand its reach into European markets by localizing its iconic animation soundtracks and narratives, pairing high-quality audio storytelling with the signature aesthetic of the Disney brand.
The recording features the narration of Irene Koss, a prominent German actress and television presenter who was a well-known voice for children's programming during the era. Her delivery was designed to evoke a sense of warmth and traditional storytelling, fitting perfectly with the whimsical, nostalgic illustration style favored by Disneyland Records for their vinyl sleeves, which often featured iconic character depictions meant to capture the charm of the original film.
