Where it came from
Released in 1979 under the Disneyland label, this German-language adaptation of Sleeping Beauty, titled Dornröschen, is part of a series of high-quality audio storybooks produced to bring classic animation narratives to European audiences. The production was designed to provide an immersive listening experience, often featuring musical elements and orchestral arrangements typical of the era's sophisticated children's records.
The recording features the contributions of Petra Schmidt-Decker and the distinguished actress Lilli Palmer, whose involvement added significant cultural prestige to the release. The design and narrative direction sought to maintain the whimsical, storybook atmosphere of the original Disney film, resulting in a product that served both as a nostalgic keepsake for fans and an educational tool for young listeners in the German-speaking market.
