Hallelujah - Denn Die Herrlichkeit Gottes (aus "Der Messias") / Ave Verum KV 618 - Transeamus

Released by Deutsche Grammophon in 1962 under the catalog number EPL 30 447, this 45-rpm extended play record serves as a showcase for German choral and orchestral tradition. It features a selection of canonical sacred works, pairing Handel's 'Hallelujah' chorus from 'Messiah' with Mozart's 'Ave Verum Corpus' and the traditional 'Transeamus'. The record reflects the mid-century European focus on high-fidelity archival recordings of classical staples intended for the domestic market, utilizing the expertise of major institutions like the Munich Philharmonic and the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra.

The production represents the meticulous approach of Deutsche Grammophon during the post-war era, prioritizing tonal clarity and authoritative interpretations. By assembling prominent regional conductors such as Rudolf Lamy and Josef Kugler alongside established orchestras, the label aimed to provide standard repertoire in a compact, accessible format. These recordings were received as reliable, standard-bearing performances, consistent with the label's reputation for maintaining a polished, balanced sound profile during a period when the classical music industry was expanding its reach into suburban record collections.
