Where it came from
Released as a promotional recording by Henninger-Bräu, this 45 RPM single was produced to celebrate the Henninger Turm in Frankfurt, a landmark grain silo and rotating restaurant complex completed in 1961. The record served as a piece of corporate branding for the brewery, capturing the mid-century optimism surrounding the tower, which stood as a significant architectural achievement and a symbol of Frankfurt’s post-war reconstruction and industrial modernization.
The tracks feature Die Turmsänger, a vocal group assembled to embody the spirit of the iconic tower. The songs, Henninger Turm Lied and Henninger Bierwalzer, follow the style of traditional German folk and brass-influenced light music common in mid-century promotional records. While the records were primarily intended for visitors to the tower and patrons of the brewery, they remain a noted piece of Frankfurt's local cultural history and a quintessential example of corporate-sponsored regional music from that era.
