Ik Zou Zo Graag Een Jongen Willen Zijn

Released in 1970 on the independent Dutch label Fonora, 'Ik Zou Zo Graag Een Jongen Willen Zijn' is a curious piece of vernacular pop history. The track, performed by the young singer Vivi-Ann accompanied by Danny Taylor and his orchestra, reflects the lighthearted and often whimsical nature of regional Dutch entertainment productions during the late 1960s and early 1970s. It was aimed at a local audience that favored modest, broadcast-friendly pop music.

The composition adheres to the conventions of the era's light orchestral pop, prioritizing accessible melodies and playful lyrical themes common in Dutch music circles at the time. While the production is relatively obscure compared to the mainstream hits of the decade, it remains a distinct artifact of the Fonora catalog, capturing the aesthetic transition toward a more modern, albeit still traditional, sound for young performers in the Low Countries.
