Iloinen Kulkija / Kotimaan Kaiho / Joulusahti / Laivuri-Jooseppi-Johansson

Released on the Triola label in the mid-20th century, this record features Jorma Ikävalko, a Finnish singer and actor whose career spanned the post-war era. These tracks are characteristic of the 'iskelmä' genre, a form of Finnish popular music that blended schlager influences with traditional folk sentiments. The record serves as a representative artifact of the light entertainment industry in Finland during a time when gramophone records were the primary medium for domestic musical consumption.

Jorma Ikävalko was known for his versatile, often humorous performance style, and these recordings reflect the lighthearted storytelling often found in Finnish popular music of the period. Triola, as a label, focused heavily on these approachable, melodic records that resonated with the local audience’s preference for evocative lyrics about domestic life and maritime themes. The production values and cover design typical of this series emphasized clarity and nostalgic appeal rather than avant-garde experimentation.
