Iraktır Yolların / Ben Yürürüm Yana Yana

Released in 1971 on the Istanbul Plak label, this 45-rpm single represents a significant period in the career of Ayten Alpman, one of Turkey's most celebrated jazz and pop vocalists. The record features the tracks 'Iraktır Yolların' and 'Ben Yürürüm Yana Yana,' which showcase Alpman’s ability to bridge traditional Turkish melodies with the contemporary arrangements favored by the Turkish music scene during the late 1960s and early 1970s. This era was characterized by the 'Anatolian Pop' movement, which sought to modernize folk standards through Western pop instrumentation and production techniques.

The production of the single reflects the aesthetic sensibilities of Istanbul Plak, a label instrumental in defining the sound of Turkish popular music during the vinyl era. Alpman’s delivery on these tracks is noted for its emotional depth and stylistic versatility, reflecting her background as a jazz-trained singer who could navigate complex arrangements with ease. While the specific design details of the sleeve and the exact recording sessions remain part of the broader history of the Turkish recording industry, the release is widely regarded by collectors as an essential artifact of Alpman's transition toward the sophisticated sound that would define her later commercial successes.
