Where it came from
Released in 1978 on the Podium label, this recording celebrates the 65th anniversary of the Jodler-Doppelquartett Kleinbasel. The record serves as a commemorative document for the group, which has long been a fixture of the traditional Swiss choral and yodeling scene in Basel. These types of local releases were often produced in limited quantities for club members and regional folk music enthusiasts to mark significant milestones in the history of Swiss cultural societies.
The album features performances by the Jodler-Doppelquartett Kleinbasel alongside the Jodlerklub Neukirch-Egnach TG. It is representative of the authentic, regional approach to Swiss yodeling and choral music popular during the 1970s. The design and production reflect the aesthetic of small-scale Swiss independent folk labels of that era, prioritizing the preservation of local musical heritage over broader commercial distribution.
