Konzert Für Klarinette Und Orchester A-dur KV 622 / Konzert Für Klarinette Und Orchester Nr. 1 F-moll Op. 73

Released in 1960 on the Deutsche Grammophon label, this recording pairs Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Clarinet Concerto in A Major, KV 622, with Carl Maria von Weber’s Clarinet Concerto No. 1 in F Minor, Op. 73. These works represent cornerstones of the clarinet repertoire, capturing the transition from the Classical elegance of Mozart’s final concerto to the Romantic virtuosity characteristic of Weber. The record features clarinetist Heinrich Geuser, a distinguished performer known for his technical precision and expressive nuance, performing alongside the Radio-Symphonie-Orchester Berlin under the baton of Ferenc Fricsay.

Ferenc Fricsay was widely regarded for his interpretive clarity and his long-standing, fruitful collaboration with the Radio-Symphonie-Orchester Berlin. His approach to these concertos is often cited for its structural integrity and balance, reflecting the label's mid-century commitment to high-fidelity sound and thoughtful, rigorous musicianship. As part of Deutsche Grammophon's prolific catalog of the era, this LP exemplifies the label's aesthetic of combining scholarly musical preparation with refined studio engineering, ensuring the release remains a standard reference for both collectors of classical vinyl and enthusiasts of mid-twentieth-century orchestral recordings.
