Where it came from
Released under the Baccarola imprint during the mid-20th century, Lieder der Heimat serves as a reflection of the post-war German focus on traditional cultural preservation and folk music. Baccarola was primarily a budget-friendly label associated with Ariola, designed to make classical, orchestral, and folk recordings accessible to a broader domestic audience during a period of economic reconstruction.
The recording features the Rudolf Lamy-Chor, a well-regarded vocal ensemble known for its precision in choral arrangements, alongside the children's choir directed by Ilse Obrig. Obrig was a highly influential figure in German broadcasting, particularly known for her commitment to children's programming. The design aesthetic of the sleeve aligns with the conservative, nostalgic packaging typical of German folk music compilations from this era, prioritizing clear titling and evocative, traditional imagery to appeal to families seeking to preserve cultural heritage through music.
