Where it came from
Lieder der Heimat, released on the Baccarola label under catalog number 26 321 V, serves as a quintessential example of the mid-century German Heimatfilm and folk-music boom. Produced during the 1960s, this compilation reflects the era's widespread nostalgia for traditional German song, packaged for the accessible, affordable market represented by the Ariola-owned Baccarola budget label. The record captures a curated selection of folk melodies intended to evoke a sense of cultural continuity and regional identity during the West German economic miracle.
The recording features the Rudolf Lamy-Chor, a highly professional ensemble known for their precise arrangements, paired with the Kinderchor Ilse Obrig. Ilse Obrig was a prominent German television personality and broadcaster, particularly associated with children's programming. Her choral work on these records was designed to maintain a wholesome, educational tone, emphasizing clarity and collective harmony. The production prioritizes a clean, traditional soundscape that defined the auditory aesthetic of popular German domestic music for families of that generation.
