Mješoviti Zbor Radničko Kulturno Umjetničko Društvo "Petar Zoranić" Zadar

Released by the state-owned Jugoton label in 1983, this record captures the performance of the Mješoviti Zbor (Mixed Choir) of the Petar Zoranić cultural society based in Zadar, Croatia. The ensemble, named after the 16th-century Croatian Renaissance writer Petar Zoranić, has served as a central pillar of Zadar’s cultural life since its founding in 1908. By the time of this recording, the society had long been established as a prestigious amateur institution dedicated to preserving Dalmatian musical heritage and choral tradition within the socialist cultural framework of the era.

The recording features the musical direction of Antun Dolički, a noted conductor who led the choir during a period of refined technical development. The selection on this release focuses on the interpretation of traditional choral arrangements and regional compositions, aiming to archive the society’s repertoire for a wider audience. Like many releases from the Jugoton catalog during the 1980s, the record functions as both an artistic document of local cultural identity and a snapshot of the rigorous choral standards maintained by long-standing amateur societies in the former Yugoslavia.
