Where it came from
Released in 1991 on the MNW label, När Du Ser På Mig serves as the debut studio album for Swedish singer-songwriter Toni Holgersson. The record emerged during a transitional period for Swedish folk-rock, blending melancholic storytelling with a stripped-back, acoustic-driven production style that allowed Holgersson’s weathered, emotive vocals to take center stage.
The album was produced by Kjell Andersson, who sought to capture a sense of intimacy and authenticity that defined Holgersson’s early artistic vision. Upon its release, the record was well-received by domestic critics, who praised Holgersson’s ability to bridge the gap between traditional Swedish troubadour sensibilities and contemporary pop-rock arrangements, ultimately establishing his reputation as a notable figure in the Nordic music scene.
