Oh, Johnny Polka / Jingle Jangle Jingle Polka

The New Yorkers were a regional musical act that contributed to the post-war polka revival, a genre that maintained surprising commercial relevance in American dance halls and broadcast radio well into the mid-1960s. This specific single, issued on the Pan label in 1965, reflects the label's commitment to niche, independent recordings that catered to localized audiences interested in upbeat, traditional dance music arrangements.

The 45-rpm format became the standard vehicle for this type of lighthearted pop-polka crossover during the mid-sixties. While the specific production history of this recording is not widely documented in mainstream music annals, it serves as a representative artifact of the mid-century trend of smaller independent labels attempting to bridge the gap between traditional folk instrumentation and the emerging polished production styles of the era.
