Released by the Czechoslovak label Panton in 1989, this recording captures a unique intersection of historical humanism and twentieth-century Czech composition. The work centers on the 1416 letter by Poggio Bracciolini, which provides a vivid, eyewitness account of the trial and execution of the Czech reformer Jerome of Prague at the Council of Constance. By setting this significant historical text to music, the project sought to bridge the gap between Renaissance intellectual history and the contemporary Czech cultural identity during a period of profound political transition.

The production brought together a notable assembly of Czech musical institutions, including the Prague Madrigal Singers, the Kühn Children's Choir, and the Czech Philharmonic Chorus. Composers Svatopluk Havelka and Petr Eben were tasked with translating the gravity of Bracciolini's prose into a modern choral and orchestral idiom.
