Quatre Sonates Pour Flute

The Quatre Sonates pour flûte by Jean-Marie Leclair were recorded as part of the Jalons de la Musique series, a French label initiative dedicated to documenting the baroque repertoire with period-informed sensitivity. Released during the mid-20th century, the album features flutist Christian Lardé alongside harpsichordist Huguette Dreyfus and gambist Jean Lamy. The project sought to revive the delicate, sophisticated textures of Leclair's flute sonatas, which are celebrated for blending the Italian melodic style with French ornamental refinement.

The performance is marked by the collaboration of prominent French musicians of the era, particularly Huguette Dreyfus, a pioneer in the modern rediscovery of the harpsichord. The production was intended for a discerning audience of chamber music enthusiasts, emphasizing a clear, intimate acoustic space that mirrors the salon settings for which these sonatas were originally composed. It remains a respected document of mid-century baroque performance practice, valued for its stylistic integrity and the balanced interplay between the wind and basso continuo.
