Hasil Adkins, the eccentric rockabilly musician from West Virginia, originally recorded these tracks decades before their formal release by Norton Records in 1990. Adkins was a prolific self-taught multi-instrumentalist who spent much of his career playing as a one-man band, largely ignored by the mainstream music industry until the rockabilly revival of the 1980s and 1990s brought his unique, primal sound to a new generation of listeners.

Norton Records, a label founded by Billy Miller and Miriam Linna, played a crucial role in documenting Adkins' work. This specific 7-inch release features the raw, lo-fi energy typical of his recording style, capturing the idiosyncratic storytelling and unpolished delivery that defined his cult status. The release was intended to preserve Adkins' singular vision, which blended country, blues, and rockabilly into something entirely his own, eventually gaining significant respect among garage rock enthusiasts and collectors of outsider music.
