Schwanensee-Ballett Op.20 · Dornröschen-Ballett Op.66 · Nussknacker-Suite Op.71a

This collection brings together three of Tchaikovsky’s most beloved ballet scores in a high-fidelity presentation characteristic of the Philips label's mid-century classical catalog. Released during the era when Philips was refining its stereo engineering, these recordings feature the London Symphony Orchestra under the baton of conductors Pierre Monteux and Anatole Fistoulari, both of whom were celebrated for their interpretative clarity and rhythmic precision in the Russian Romantic repertoire.

The design of the Philips 'Hi-Fi Stereo' jackets from this period was defined by a clean, modernist aesthetic that prioritized bold typography and elegant, minimalist imagery to signal the quality of the pressing inside. Collectors often value this specific catalog number for the synergy between the refined orchestral performance of the London Symphony and the warm, balanced acoustic profile that Philips became famous for achieving at that time, establishing it as a staple in the libraries of mid-century classical music enthusiasts.
