Sérénades De Salzbourg - Trois Divertissements K.136, K.137, K.138 - Serenade Nocturne K.239

Released by the Guilde Internationale du Disque, this recording reflects the mid-20th-century movement to bring high-fidelity classical performances to a broader audience through subscription-based record clubs. The record features the Boyd Neel Chamber Orchestra and the Hamburger Kammerorchester, ensembles that were instrumental in the mid-century revival of 18th-century chamber repertoire. By grouping Mozart’s early divertimenti and the celebrated Serenade Nocturne, the label provided listeners with a curated look at the composer’s lighter, aristocratic style.

The production values of the Guilde Internationale du Disque series often emphasized clarity and directness in sound engineering, favoring a traditional approach to Mozart’s compositions. Under the direction of conductors like Walter Goehr, these recordings were intended to offer a balanced, technically polished interpretation of the Salzburg style. The disc remains a notable artifact of the era’s commitment to making the European classical canon accessible to home listeners in an era before digital streaming archives.
