Sexy Dancer / Disco Circus / Disco Dance / D.Train Dub

This 12-inch compilation released under RMTZ Records, catalog number 1371, serves as a quintessential artifact of the early 1980s post-disco and boogie transition. The selection of tracks highlights the era’s shift toward electronic instrumentation and the heavy reliance on extended dub mixes, which were designed specifically for the high-energy demands of metropolitan club dance floors. By bringing together these specific cuts, the label sought to capitalize on the burgeoning popularity of synthesizer-led funk and the growing influence of the New York City downtown club scene.

The record label RMTZ operated within the independent network of disco and dance music labels that thrived during this period, often licensing tracks from smaller studios to curate collections that bridged the gap between commercial disco and the more experimental sounds of early hip-hop and house. While the producers and arrangers behind these specific dubs were often uncredited in favor of the performing artists, the design of these releases was largely utilitarian, favoring bold typography and clear track listings to assist disc jockeys in identifying beats and tempos during live sets.
