Sheila / Youpi-Ya Tamoure

Released in 1963 on the French label Teeny Records, this single captures the mid-century yé-yé phenomenon that swept through France during the early sixties. The record features the tracks Sheila and Youpi-Ya Tamoure, reflecting the era's fascination with lighthearted pop music influenced by American rock and roll and the exoticism of the period's musical trends. It serves as a quintessential artifact of the early discography of the artist known as Sheila, who became a defining figure of the generation.

The production quality and aesthetic of the Teeny Records releases were designed to cater to a young, rapidly growing demographic of radio listeners and teenage record buyers. As a catalog entry from the early stage of her career, this item represents the collaborative efforts of session musicians and producers attempting to synthesize catchy, radio-friendly melodies. While the specific illustrator of the sleeve is often uncredited in such pressings, the design follows the period's standard of bold typography and youthful, stylized photography intended to establish a recognizable visual identity for the rising pop star.
