Shinorubi

Shinorubi is a modern danmaku, or bullet hell, shoot-'em-up video game developed by Last Boss 88 and released in 2024. The soundtrack, composed by William Lamy, draws heavy influence from the golden age of arcade shooters of the 1990s, specifically the high-energy, synthesized aesthetic synonymous with titles from developers like Cave and Raizing. The physical vinyl release serves as a companion piece to the game's intense, rhythmic gameplay, aiming to capture the frenetic energy of the digital experience in an analog format.

The album's design mirrors the game’s visual identity, which utilizes high-contrast colors and crisp, sharp vector art to highlight the overwhelming number of projectiles typical of the genre. As a relatively recent release, it represents a contemporary appreciation for the intersection of chiptune-adjacent soundscapes and physical media collectibles. The project reflects a dedicated effort by independent developers to honor the legacy of arcade culture, ensuring that the music holds its own as a standalone listening experience outside of the software.
