Šťastný Pátek / Jsi Jako Jiné

Released by the Czechoslovak label Supraphon in 1963, this 7-inch vinyl single captures the mid-century aesthetic of the Eastern Bloc’s pop music scene. It features two distinct tracks, 'Šťastný Pátek' performed by Milan Neděla and 'Jsi Jako Jiné' by Jiří Vašíček, reflecting the era's tendency to blend orchestral arrangements with popular vocal styles. The record served as a showcase for these performers within the state-controlled music industry, which prioritized accessible, radio-friendly compositions that balanced traditional melodic sensibilities with subtle contemporary influences.

The design of the record, marked with catalog number 013189, follows the standardized minimalist packaging common to Supraphon releases of the early 1960s. These records were intended to provide domestic entertainment for the Czechoslovak public during a period of cultural change, offering listeners a reprieve from more formal classical recordings. While not intended as a radical artistic statement, the record remains a significant artifact for collectors of Czechoslovak pop, documenting the specific vocal styles and production techniques favored by the label's curators during that decade.
