Where it came from
Released in 2018 on the London-based Far Out Recordings label, Step Into My Life emerged from the Far Out Monster Disco Orchestra project, an ensemble designed to bridge the gap between classic 1970s Brazilian disco and contemporary production techniques. The track represents the label's commitment to revitalizing the tropical, rhythmic foundations of the Rio de Janeiro sound, utilizing a sprawling lineup of session musicians to capture the authentic, organic warmth of the disco era.
The specific version featuring the mix by legendary remixer John Morales was crafted to emphasize the dance-floor sensibility inherent in the original composition. Morales, a pivotal figure in the New York disco scene who rose to prominence at Studio 54 and through his work for Salsoul Records, was chosen for his signature ability to refine and extend the groove without losing the soul of the performance. The release was received as a respectful homage to the golden age of club music, praised for its tight arrangements and sophisticated production values.
