The Chi-Chi Cha-Cha-Cha / Mi Cha-Cha-Cha

Released in 1956 under the La Voix De Son Maître label, this single captured the height of the mid-century mambo and cha-cha-chá craze that swept through Europe and North America. It was produced during a period when record labels sought to satisfy the Western appetite for Latin dance music, often adapting traditional Cuban rhythms for ballroom audiences. The catalog number 7 GF 271 denotes its status as a 45 RPM microgroove disc, a format that had recently become the standard for pop and dance hits.

The Cha Cha Boys were a professional ensemble active during the mid-1950s, specifically formed to capitalize on the popularity of Latin dance orchestras in French-speaking territories. Their recordings for labels like La Voix De Son Maître—the French affiliate of His Master's Voice—were marketed as sophisticated yet accessible dance music. While the performers were not household names, they were skilled musicians who effectively synthesized the sounds of Havana for the vibrant Parisian nightlife scene, receiving steady airplay in clubs and dance halls of the era.
