Trouvères Troubadours Et Grégorien

Released in 1971 by Editions Studio S.M., this recording captures the intersection of medieval music revival and the communal living movement of the late 20th century. La Communauté de l'Arche, founded by Lanza del Vasto, was a spiritual and pacifist community inspired by the teachings of Gandhi. The album reflects their commitment to simplicity and artistic expression, focusing on the preservation and performance of Trouvère and Troubadour traditions alongside Gregorian chant, which served as the bedrock for much of their musical liturgy.

The album features performances by Chanterelle Del Vasto, Yves Tessier, and the noted lutenist Mildred Clary. The production was intended to evoke the meditative and austere quality of early music, favoring authentic instrumentation and vocal styles that stripped away modern orchestral artifice. Upon its release, the record was primarily distributed within religious and folk music circles, gaining a modest reputation among enthusiasts of early music revivalism for its dedicated adherence to historical performance practices within a spiritual context.
