Ugly / If U Were Mine

Released in 1989 on the independent Nu Vision Records label, 'Ugly / If U Were Mine' stands as a quintessential artifact of the late eighties electro-funk and early hip-hop transition period. Produced during a time when independent labels were instrumental in shaping regional soundscapes, this single reflects the raw, experimental production techniques favored by underground artists striving to gain a foothold in the competitive music landscape of the late twentieth century.

The record was engineered to capture the high-energy, synthetic percussion characteristic of the era's dance-floor-oriented tracks. While the Untouchable Krew remains a niche entity within music history, their work exemplifies the DIY spirit of 1980s independent urban music. The design aesthetic of the release, consistent with Nu Vision’s minimalist cataloging, focuses on providing a direct, no-frills platform for the music, a common approach for small-batch labels seeking to minimize overhead while prioritizing distribution to local radio and club DJs.
