Uglier Than They Used Ta Be

Uglier Than They Used Ta Be was released in 2015 as the third studio album by the American rock band Ugly Kid Joe, marking their first full-length effort in nearly two decades. The project emerged from a successful crowdfunding campaign, signaling the band's return to the music scene after a long hiatus that followed their immense success in the early 1990s. The release sought to recapture the band's signature blend of hard rock and irreverent humor, serving as a nostalgic bridge for longtime fans while establishing their continued relevance in the modern rock landscape.

The album's design and production reflect a conscious effort to maintain the group's established identity while benefiting from refined technical standards. The aesthetic, consistent with the band's history, leans into a gritty, straightforward rock-and-roll sensibility. Upon its release through the Metalville label, the album was generally received by listeners as a reliable continuation of the band’s previous output, successfully delivering the punchy, guitar-driven sound that first brought them to prominence during the grunge era.
