Where it came from
Ultra-Frequency was released in 2022 as a collaborative project between the veteran Scottish rave act Ultra-Sonic and the English rave production outfit Dream Frequency. Issued on the Ultra-Sonic Research label under the catalog number UF01_LP, the album functions as a modern bridge between the classic hardcore and breakbeat techno sounds that defined the early 1990s UK rave scene and contemporary production standards.
The record was conceived as a testament to the enduring influence of the rave era, pairing the high-energy, piano-driven sensibilities of Dream Frequency with the hard-hitting, synth-heavy aesthetic associated with Ultra-Sonic. Designed for both nostalgic listeners and those interested in the evolution of electronic dance music, the release maintains a commitment to the raw, authentic textures that originated during the underground club movements in which both acts rose to prominence.
