Un Uomo E Una Donna/Misty

Released in 1967 on the Durium label, this single features Fausto Papetti, an Italian alto saxophonist who became a cultural institution in Italy for his long-running series of 'Raccolta' albums. The tracks pair the evocative, Oscar-winning theme from Claude Lelouch’s film 'A Man and a Woman' with the jazz standard 'Misty,' aligning with the era's popularity of lush, instrumental pop-jazz arrangements designed for intimate listening environments.

The production reflects the stylistic choices Papetti was famous for during this period: smooth, breathy saxophone melodies layered over sophisticated, easy-listening orchestral backings. As a key figure in the Italian lounge and mood music scene, Papetti’s work was aimed at a broad audience seeking sophisticated background music, and his consistent output during the 1960s cemented his reputation as a definitive purveyor of the smooth, continental sound that defined the Italian radio aesthetic of the time.
