Where it came from
The X-Que Wanted EP was released in 2004 under the Xque Records label, serving as a documentation of the soundscape prevalent at the iconic Xque nightclub in Spain. The label functioned as an extension of the club's influence, capturing the high-energy Makina and hard dance tracks that defined the venue’s late-night atmosphere during the early 2000s.
This record reflects the signature aesthetic of the Catalan dance scene, characterized by fast-paced percussion and synthesized melodies intended for heavy rotation in club environments. Like many releases from the label, the design leans into the utilitarian yet striking visual language typical of independent dance music imprints of that era, focusing on the branding of the nightclub as the primary cultural touchstone for its audience.
