Where it came from
Released in 1980 on the SMS Records label, this single serves as the musical centerpiece for the Japanese television series X-Bomber, a pioneering puppet-based science fiction show created by Go Nagai. The production, notable for its early use of marionette special effects blended with stop-motion animation, sought to capitalize on the burgeoning interest in space opera themes in Japan following the global success of Star Wars.
The tracks are performed by the Japanese rock band Bow Wow, who were recruited to provide a high-energy, contemporary sound to bridge the gap between traditional children's television themes and the evolving rock music scene of the era. The cover art reflects the aesthetic of the 1980s Japanese tokusatsu boom, featuring the titular starship and its crew, and remains a sought-after artifact for enthusiasts of late-showa period science fiction media and soundtrack collectibles.
