Where it came from
Released in 1987 by Som Livre, Xegundo Xou Da Xuxa served as the second studio album by the Brazilian television presenter and singer Xuxa Meneghel. The album was produced during the height of her transition from a successful model to a dominant figure in children's entertainment, following the massive success of her previous record. Its release solidified her position as a cultural phenomenon in Brazil, capitalizing on the popularity of her daily television program, Xou da Xuxa, which set the standard for youth-oriented variety shows throughout the decade.
The album's musical direction, helmed by producers such as Michael Sullivan and Paulo Massadas, aimed to blend pop sensibilities with the whimsical, high-energy aesthetic required for her televised performances. The design of the record, featuring vibrant imagery consistent with Xuxa's signature visual brand, was instrumental in building the immersive world she invited her young audience to enter. It was received as a major commercial success, further entrenching the artist as a centerpiece of Brazilian pop culture and a major revenue driver for the Som Livre label during the late 1980s.
