Xepi, Xepi, Xip, Xip

Released in 1971 on the Concentric label, Xepi, Xepi, Xip, Xip serves as a notable artifact of the Catalan underground music scene during the twilight of the Franco era. Produced by Els Xipis, the record embodies the experimental and often whimsical spirit of the period, acting as a cultural signifier for the burgeoning avant-garde movements in Spain that sought to carve out new artistic identities through unconventional arrangements and local linguistic expression.

The design and production aesthetic reflect a minimalist, functional approach characteristic of Concentric's catalog during the early seventies. While the specific intent of the illustrators behind the sleeve art remains largely obscure within formal archives, the release is widely regarded by collectors of Iberian psych-pop and experimental music as a quintessential example of the era's DIY ethos, prized more for its rarity and its reflection of a specific socio-political moment than for mainstream critical reception at the time of its debut.
