Yagga Yaw Yaw / Ya Done Know

Released in 1998 on the B.E. Records label, Yagga Yaw Yaw / Ya Done Know stands as a definitive artifact of the late nineties dancehall scene. As the catalog entry FLY-01, this 12-inch single served as a foundational release for Redlife, capturing the raw, percussive energy that defined urban sound systems during that period. The track emerged from a cultural moment where digital production techniques were rapidly evolving, allowing artists to layer complex rhythmic patterns with the melodic, toast-style vocal delivery characteristic of the era.

The production design reflects the utilitarian yet bold aesthetic common to independent dancehall pressings of the late 1990s. While Redlife maintained a focus on rhythmic intensity, the track's design prioritizes a high-fidelity low end, intended for playback in large-scale sound system environments rather than home audio setups. Though the release was largely intended for regional DJs and selectors, it received moderate recognition within underground circles for its uncompromising adherence to the roots of the genre, cementing it as a sought-after piece for collectors of contemporary Jamaican music history.
