Where it came from
Released in 1978 by the Sarajevo-based label Diskoton, this single reflects the vibrant and eclectic folk music scene of Yugoslavia during the late 1970s. As a product of the Diskoton imprint, which was instrumental in distributing both pop and folk music across the region, the record captures the stylistic sensibilities of the era's kafana and radio-oriented folk compositions.
The tracks feature Sulejman Ramadan, known professionally as Ramče, an artist who operated within the traditional folk music circuits of the period. The songwriting and production follow the established conventions of Balkan folk music from the late socialist era, focusing on themes of longing and emotional reflection that resonated with contemporary listeners of Yugoslav folk.
